Okay friends, today I wanted to talk about aaaalll of our guilty pleasure – Netflix!! I don’t know about you but one of my favourite things to do after a long day is cuddle up with my man and my cat and watch whatever it is we’re hooked on in the moment (recently it’s been the fosters). I know, I know – Jess, get a life man!! Can I let you in on a secret? I used to hate Netflix originals. You know those super cheesy, super cringe-worthy movies exclusive to Netflix? Well have I got news for you!
Yes, Netflix originals used to be super lame but recently they have been releasing some absolute bangers and i’ve been L-O-V-E LOVING them! I don’t know about you, but i’m always on the hunt for something to watch whether it be a new series to get lost in or a movie for me and my boyfriend to watch (which usually results in us sitting on the sofa for an hour before we finally give up and go to bed out of frustration). Well, if you’re anything like me you’ll benefit from this list of totally binge worthy Netflix originals!
Dude follows four best friends through their senior year of high school as they negotiate loss and some other major life changes before they all go their separate ways. I absolutely adored this movie – it has a little bit of something for everyone; comedy, romance, a little bit of an emotional rollercoaster and I mean c’mon who doesn’t love Lucy Hale?? PLL throw backs anyone?!
Elle and Lee have been best friends basically their entire lives. What’s the secret to such a long lived friendship? Rules! One of the most important friendship rules is that neither one of them shall ever date family members – especially Lee’s hunk of an older brother. Well we can all guess where this is going right?? I’ll admit, there is a bit of cheese in this one but it’s adorable and flat out hilarious either way!
What does one do with their crazy psycho control freak of a boss? Find them love of course! Can you say FREEDOM? This is by far my favourite Netflix original movie yet – you’ll laugh (a lot!) and be totally blown away by the realness of this movie.
Brain on Fire follows Suzanna as she races to find some answers to her mystical illness that no doctors seem to be able to diagnose. While all the science is telling her she’s perfectly healthy, her body is saying something totally different. This one had me on the edge of my seat through the whole movie feeling like Meredith Grey as I tried figuring out what was wrong with her!
Ibiza follows Harper to Ibiza after a totally captivating (smoking hot) guy she met one night. The real stars of this one however is her two best friends who literally had me tearing up from laughter. This Netflix original had me wanting to run off to a foreign country with my best friends that’s for sure.
This one is a light hearted comedy that touches on some pretty important lessons I definitely wish I knew going through high school. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and I guarantee you’ll be able to relate to at least one character!
If you haven’t hopped on the Riverdale train yet, hold on to your hats girls because things are about to get wild. I wasn’t expecting much from this one at first, but once I started I literally couldn’t stop. The characters and the town is based off of the Old Archie comics but the similarities stop there. This is definitely not the cute little soda pop shoppe of a town we all know and love – it’s way way better.
When I say grab the tissue box, I really mean it. This show follows 5 adorable gay men (Who I seriously wish I could be besties with) as they give different people complete life makeovers and remind them how absolutely wonderful they are. Seriously, every episode had me bawling my eyes out – but in the best way!
I’m so sure you’ve already heard of this one, but it’s definitely worth a rewatch! “A love letter to the supernatural classics of the 80’s, Stranger Things is the story of a young boy who vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl”
Where my Gilmore Girl fans at??? Lemme tell you, this girl has been a fan of Lorelei and Rory Gilmore for as long as I can remember. It kind of used to be like my own mom and my thing growing up and I still reach for it when i’m feeling a bit home sick. If you were a fan of stars hollow and you haven’t yet gotten around to watching this Netflix Original mini series, You. Are. Missing. Out. I loved every second of it (except maybe an extremely surprise ending) and highly recommend to everyone!
That’s it for my list of Netflix goodies, happy bingeing babes!
What are some of your fav series & movies at the moment??
